On Tuesday, July 20, 2010, Steppin’ Out DanceCenter competed in the Nexstar National Championships in Lancaster. After ending the regular dance season in May, the competition students came back in July to work hard in rehearsals preparing themselves for Nationals.Ten girls from the studio, ages 10 to 18, competed inthree different numbers. The jazz competition group competed with a routine danced to the song, “Release” and earned a High Gold and a 5th placement in the small group category. The tap competition group competed to the song “Beat It” which won Gold in the awards ceremony. The final number for Steppin’ Out was “Love Shack”, another tap number, in which the dancers were awarded a High Gold and a 3rd place trophy in the small group category. In addition to all of these accomplishments, a top performance award was presented to the choreographer of the three numbers, Miss Ashley Sullivan-Kirksey, for “Release”.
Steppin’ Out Dance Center is very proud to have done so well at Nationals and is looking forward to the
coming year of dance.
